Here we are hitting Christmas again with  the usual flurry of local activity .
This year, the Andoversford Primary kids are not available for Pies & Punch but singing group, Patchwork, have stepped in to give a splendid alternative.
With their great reputation, they will lead a very different Pies & Punch which should be great fun.
Watch out for the promised Broadband Survey which should come round soon - information as we get it will appear on www.sevenhampton.org/broadband.
Happy Christmas et al.
Items for the next Issue (February / March)  by 20th. January Please.

Dog Fouling

Unscooped poops are causing real distress in parts of the parish.  We’re in the country and some local dogs are, in part, free range but responsible owners must check out their dogs’ usual haunts to ensure a mess isn’t created for their neighbours.
Unforgivable though that a sign put up by environmental health requesting that poop be scooped was disappeared!
It was no dog that did that!

Chi Gong

Based on the Chinese philosophy that you age from the inside out, Chi Gong is a no stress form of exercise helping balance,  breathing, keeping joints supple & strong.
Suitable for all ages & fitness levels - can be done seated - it has attracted a loyal local following.
The latest run of classes has just ended but, weather gods permitting, it will restart on Thursday 12th January at 2.30 in the Hall.  Info: Doris Austin on 820425

Book Now for Jubilee BBQ

If you want to avail yourself of the free BBQ, puds and salads at the Diamond Jubilee Big LATE BBQ Lunch on June 3rd next year be sure to return the form attached to this newsletter by Christmas, so that the catering can be planned and your place reserved.
If you only want to buy a drink, listen to the live band and have a dance you can just turn up on the day (provided it doesn’t get too crowded).

Village Scrapbook Project

Get looking for those old photographs, newspaper cuttings or anything other bit of ephemera you may have stuffed away which is anything to do with our villages.
The idea is that a day will be set aside sometime in the spring for you to take whatever you have along to the village hall where Lucy Jackson can photograph or scan it and a scrapbook of village memories will be produced to keep in the village hall.  An online version may also be published.
So get up into your lofts/garages/cellars/sheds now and see what you can find.

First Aid Course

Are you interested in spending a day taking some free first aid training in the village hall?
We already have ten names of people interested but ideally we would have up to 20. This is part of the British Red Cross / CDC Resilience planning programme.
You will see from the Produce Show report (right) that they are in need of first-aiders so how about it?
Please contact Lynne Jackson if you want to take part. 01242 820408

Parish Precept Frozen

Sevenhampton Parish Council has decided to leave the precept for the year 2012/13 at £5,000. This will be the 7th successive year with no increase.
Parish Chairman Bill Jenkin said “A tax increase would be inappropriate in the current economic climate, though this decision leaves us with few reserves.”

Produce Show Report

volunteers and first-aiders wanted
At the AGM of the Produce Show on 8th November the Committee noted the following highlights from the 2011 Show. Overall entries are down on the recent record set in 2010; a good turn out on the day considering the weather and an overall surplus of £1,761. The Committee set aside £500 of the show’s total funds to purchase a new marquee and committed £700 to support the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the parishes and £800 to help fund repairs to the stonework of the Rhodes Memorial Hall. Committee Chairman, Malcolm Bell, would like to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer to join the committee or act as first aiders for the show. Contact him on 821397. A full report on the AGM and the outcome of the 2011 show can be seen on the Sevenhampton Parish website at  www.sevenhampton.org/show2011report.

Century Club

On Tues 11th Oct the Century Club had their yearly lunch out, again at the Royal in Charlton Kings which everyone agrees is a good venue.  Not only is car parking easy, the most important object of the exercise, the food, is excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful.
Tues 8th Nov saw the return of one of our most popular speakers.  Liz Suckling spoke and showed pictures of Crickley Hill and the Rollright stones.  She explained how successive cultures, stone age and iron age had occupied the site over the ages apparently without using the same ground, with photographs of remarkable finds of grave goods and maps showing the positions of flint arrowheads indicating a major battle.  A most interesting and informative talk.
Jenny and Jack Stringer have very kindly said that they will still host the Christmas tea at Whittington Court on 13th Dec.
