Watch out for Nick Fresson’s talk on November 7th at the WI Open Evening. The Dower House has a forgotten and surprising history rediscovered during his 4 years of work on the house including archaeological and archive research.
This talk gives us a chance to learn its place in village history from Pre-Roman settlement through to recent times.
What are you doing next June 3rd? No, I didn’t know either but time to put it in your diary so we can all share part of the Diamond Jubilee together.
Music & catering are getting booked up by others more organised than us so we need to know everyone will be there to enjoy out Big Late Lunch which is like a street party with music & rain protection!
Items for the next Issue (Dec 2011/Jan 2012) by 20th. December Please.

Diamond Jubilee Big LATE Lunch

Put Your Name Down Now for Next Year’s
DIAMOND JUBILEE BIG LATE LUNCH
ON SUNDAY 3RD JUNE 2012
As announced by Buckingham Palace, The Big Jubilee Lunch will be a part of the main programme of events over the central weekend of Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June 2012.  For our villages a “Big LATE Lunch” is being planned under canvas in the Show Field at about 5pm.  A band has already been booked and the food will be provided. It will be free for children under 7 but there will be a charge for adults, how much will depend on the numbers attending and the type of food supplied but it will be as low as possible (the event is partly being subsidised by the Parish Council).

The organisers need to know now how many people will want to attend in order to plan suitable catering and calculate costs etc .  So although it may seem a long way ahead it would be very useful to tell them now. So please, if  you and or your family will want to be there get in touch with Annie Weatherley on 01242 820718 (email removed to prevent spam), giving numbers of adults/children likely to attend.
There will also be a page on the village website (www.sevenhampton.org/jubilee).

Produce Show Raises £1750

but what improvements would you like to see?
from Malcolm Bell, Show Chairman -
First of all a huge “Thank you” to the 60 plus people who gave up part of the afternoon to help out with making the show the success it was. I am grateful in particular to those who volunteered for the first time.

Although entries were a little down on last year you again showed the great array of talent that we have in the parishes. Thank you for making the effort to participate.

Financially the show was another success and at our AGM on 8th November we will make an allocation of the surplus of about £1,750 to projects in the community.

If you have thoughts on how we can make the show better for you please email me (email removed to prevent spam) or telephone me (01242 821397) with any feedback you would like us to consider.

Also if you have photographs from the day I would like you to let me have a copy of them; again by email would be a great help.                                                   Malcolm Bell

Century Club

In September we were treated to a talk by a remarkable lady named Janet Margrie, who told us of a career of creativity and showed us a large selection of her creations. Although having studied at art college she claimed not to be an artist yet her work suggested that she was more of an artist than many of today's so called exponents. Her talk covered a lot of ground (most of her long life) and it is difficult to remember all the detail, but it was greatly appreciated by all her audience.
