EDITORIAL You’ll
notice that this newsletter has a questionnaire attached. Don’t forget
to fill it in, tear it off and return to the Parish Clerk.
Rural Cinema. I gather that “Bright Star” was not a
universal acclaimed cinematic success. Some liked it a lot, others not
a lot. Thanks though to Ray Oldham for doing the technical bits, to
Julia for ticket sales & to Georgina for logistics. Hope everyone
comes back for “Nowhere Boy” on April 22nd - think that should be good.
Easter Services are included in the Village Diary.
There are musical events to look forwards to in April & May. The
first is the Afternoon Tea Party on Sunday April 25th where the Thamyse
Quartet led by Celia Waterhouse will provide the background to a
sumptuous tea. Let Georgina (820423) know if you can lend delicate
china for the event or if you fancy yourself as as a waiter/waitress
(taking great care with any lent delicate china). Tickets form Georgina
or Gill Lanfear on 820862 at £6.
The second is at Whitehall Barn on May 15th. With warmer weather
approaching - fingers crossed - the Garden Club comes into its own..
April 23rd kitchen herbs talk sounds good but the Open Garden on May
15th even better. Phone Cindy Haines on 820914 for more details.
Items for the next Issue (June/July) by 20th. May Please.

Colin Rosser
Colin
Rosser At the Parish Meeting, the Chairman paid tribute to the
enthusiasm with which Colin had embraced local activities. From the
moment Colin moved in he played the fullest part in village life
including a stint as chairman of the Parish Council. He was active on
committees supporting the Produce Show, Village Hall, Garden Club and
BADS. The Parish Council has been asked by these organisations, in
consultation with Yvonne and family, to devise a fitting memorial in
the village for Colin and would like to appeal for your ideas. If
you have a fitting suggestion please contact the parish clerk, Ann van
Rossem at the Old Shop, Brockhampton. tel. 820718, email removed (to
prevent spam)
Google Street View
Google has now put on the internet detailed pictures of just about every street in the country. Our villages are no exception. It
was a beautiful day last June when the Google car drove through,
however it only seems to have toured along the Syreford - Winchcombe
Road, up through Brockhampton, along Gassons Lane and through the ford
at Sevenhampton. Roads which have escaped their attention include the
roads to the Craven Arms, Village Hall and Bakers Wood Lane, Church
Lane, Park Lane & Nash/Whitehall. To see what your place looks like go to Google>Maps, then drag the little man to where your house is. Faces and registration numbers are supposed to be blurred out. You
can have your house removed by clicking on "Report a Problem?". If you
do not have a computer and would rather your house was not on show I
can only suggest you find someone who has one to do it on your behalf
because I have tried in vain to find an address to send your written
concerns to.

Emergency Plan Questionnaire
Following
the floods of 2007 a number of towns and villages have been drawing up
plans for local support in various emergencies. The need for this was
highlighted earlier this year with the isolation caused by the snow and
ice. To this end, a questionnaire has been distributed with this
magazine in order to put together a list of local people/resources
available in emergency - how could you help and what skills or
resources could you could offer? Although the recent bad weather is
still in our minds this plan should also be able to take other types of
emergency on board e.g. long term disruption to water/power supplies,
chemical spillage or gas leak (it could be a LPG tank). Please
detach the sheet and take a few moments to fill it in so that we can
draw up a really effective plan. Further information from Anne van
Rossem (820718) or Lynne Jackson (820408)
Parish Council
The next meeting of Sevenhampton Parish Council will be on Wednesday 19th May 2010 At 7.30 pm in the Reading Room There will be a short question and answer session before the meeting begins.

Century Club
The Century Club meets on the Second Tuesday of the month. Anyone of retirement age is welcome to join.
The AGM was held on Tues 9 March, all over in thirty minutes as usual.
President Jenny stringer would like someone to replace her as she feels
the position would benefit from new ideas. However, no one was willing
so we hope she will continue for another year. The committee continues.
Treasurer Evelyn Timbrell does a wonderful job with our finances
believing that it's not the club's purpose to build up cash in the bank
but to use money for the benefit of members.
After the AGM there was a beetle drive which caused much laughter and
was much enjoyed and won by Sheila Bartlett but as Iris had forgotten
to provide a prize her reward was an extra piece of cake.
Tea, as usual, was lovely thanks to all who contributed. We closed about 5 o'clock

Quilts at the V&A

organising a coach to go to The V and A museum to see the 'Quilts
1700-2010 exhibition' - “a unique opportunity to view the V&A's
unseen quilt collection as well as key national loans. Recent examples
will include works by leading artists such as Grayson Perry and Tracey
Emin.”
If anyone would like to come on the coach to London it will leave the
library car park in Winchcombe at 9am, picking up at the park and ride
at Cheltenham racecourse at 9.20am. We will leave London probably about
4.30pm Cost is £23 for seniors and £25 for adults this includes
