Village Live No. 42 (Text Only Edition)

December 2005 - January 2006

Published for the residents of Sevenhampton  and Brockhampton, Gloucestershire.
Sponsored  Sevenhampton Parish Council

The Parish Council has come in for a fair bit of criticism recently for its alleged failure to act decisively over the wind turbines issue.  Maybe this would be a good time to remind readers that letters to this organ on local issues are always welcome.  Letters sent to the parish council on this matter can be read in the post office.

The recent fall of snow has produced some horror stories of abandoned cars, closed roads and people trudging home from as far a field as Charlton Kings.  It also enabled the editors of this journal to update some of the pictures used year on year to illustrate Christmas Church Services and refuse collections
Please let us have any items for inclusion in the next edition by 20th January.
Meanwhile we wish you a very
Merry Christmas
and a Prosperous 2006

PARISH COUNCIL

Wind Turbine Poll

The parish council is conducting a poll to establish the local opinion on the proposal to erect two wind turbines in the parish.

The 56 metre (183ft) turbines  would be on Elsdon Bank at a point near Elsdon Barn.

Ballot papers were sent by second class post on Friday 25th November to all residents entitled to vote. If yours has not arrived and you think it should have,  please contact any parish councillor or the vice-chairman, Bill Jenkin on  820338.

Papers must be returned in the pre-paid envelopes provided to be received by the ballot organisers - Electoral Reform Services - no later than 2 p.m. on Friday 9th December 2005

The result will be posted on notice-boards and on sevenhampton.org on 12th December 2005.

All letters received on this matter have been placed in the Post Office.

Affordable Housing

The Parish Council was surprised to learn that a site meeting had been held without their knowledge as the Chairman had on numerous occasions requested such a meeting in order to discuss a number of points.  A strong letter has been written to CDC pointing out that the parish council should have been consulted and insisting that it is kept fully informed of any further developments.

It appears that the architect for Gloucestershire Housing Association has been asked for further plans to be drawn up to consist of 2 one bed, 3 two bed and 1 three bedroom properties. No provision has been made for garaging but there will be curtilage car parking.  Some members of the Parish Council consider that the land opposite Chapel Cottages would be a more suitable site. This point would also be pursued with CDC
