SEVENHAMPTON PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Wednesday 19 March 2008
Present: Bill Jenkin Lynne Jackson Harry Boyd Alison Giles Plus six parishioners.
Apologies: Di Brown Bill Lanfear
- The minutes of the meeting held on 21 March 2007 were read, approved
and signed as a true record of proceedings.
- The chairman gave his first annual report as
chairman. Apart from the wind turbine application
which had recently been passed it had been a relatively quiet year on
the planning side. The new on-line planning process
was up and running but it was considered to be a retrograde step as far
as the parish was concerned. New ideas were required for
inclusion in the parish’s Way Forward Statement and consideration
given for a parish response to renewable energy/climate change that
would affect us all. He was hopeful a number of
parishioners would be willing to become involved. He gave
his thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time to the various
village amenities/clubs which were such an important part of parish
life.
- After an overview from Mike Moseley
who works within the area of renewable energy it was concluded that the
best way forward was to form a panel of parishioners to consider the
various options that Mike would put forward. The
chairman asked for names of possible interested parties who would then
be given a presentation on the options available.
- As a result of a question from Gill Lanfear the clerk was asked to
contact Edwin Bailey about renting an area at the entrance to the walks
or opening the rickyard to aid car parking for the village hall and
surrounding area. The clerk was also asked to contact Glos
County Council about a new Sevenhampton sign on the top road and
reinstating the passing place in Gassons Lane which was totally
overgrown. Roger Gibson asked whether it was possible to
rebuild the bridge over the ford in Lower Sevenhampton to avoid it
flooding again. The clerk to contact CDC to see if a flood
grant was available.
- As there was no
further business the chairman closed the meeting with thanks to the few
parishioners who had attended.
