21st March 2007 - Annual Parish Meeting

Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held at Rhodes

Memorial Hall Brockhampton on Wednesday 21 March 2007

Present:           Lesley Ball        Thomas Jackson           Charles Arkell
Ashley Tobin    Bill Jenkin

  1. Apologies had been received from Jon Davis.
  2. The minutes of the last meeting were read, approved and signed as a true record of the proceedings.
  3. Chairman’s report:  The chairman reported that the year had been relatively quiet compared to last year.   She was disappointed on the lack of progress regardng the affordable housing project as the site had been offered by a local landowner and there was certainly a need within the parish for small houses.   She thanked all the councillors and the clerk for their work and support over the last four years and also Vanessa Holland whose assistance in setting up the hall for meetings had been much appreciated.   Finally she thanked the parishioners who regularly attended the meetings for their loyalty especially in challenging times.
  4. Question time:  Brian Turner asked about an update on affordable housing.   The chairman replied this would be dealt with at the following parish council meeting.   He also wanted to know whether any of the present council would be standing for re-election.   Bill Jenkin had been approached by Francis Barnard regarding the church roof which was in need of repair.   An appeal will be launched shortly and the parish council would be approached for a donation.
  5. Enid Turner then gave a vote of thanks to the parish council for their impartial stance during the recent difficult times and Lesley Ball as chairman should be commended.
  6. The chairman then closed the meeting at 7.20 and it was immediately followed by the parish council meeting.
